i watching basic maya 2016 lt turtorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnugjciffxu 12.30 (time) shown how use knife tool (sculpting). when same cursor instead of cutting freeze @ same place nothing happends. please, me understand, may cause problem? knife settings reset , use maya lt 2016 version downloaded yesterday http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/maya-lt

if haven't figured out how use knife tool in sculpting, think may due initial brush size settings of tool being large, (perhaps large it's off visible screen). fix this, press , hold ctrl+b while click , hold left-mouse-button, @ same time (while pressing both ctrl+b , lmb), slide mouse left , if works, should see large circle close-in on small cursor dot. brush size decreasing appropriate size.
can after selecting knife tool, on side toolbar (the panel along left-side of maya) find same knife tool , double-click on knife-tool (last tool used), knife tool settings can adjusted there, decrease brush size , should able use knife tool expect.
